The Lukens Piano Trio was formed in the Spring of 2005, and has been steadily garnering praise and acclaim for their performances throughout the East Coast. At their Philadelphia debut, critic Michael Caruso called the performance, “Stunning … all three musicians played with an exquisite sensitivity and exhilarating thrusts of energy.” The Bethlehem Morning Call wrote, “They played (the Brahms) with enormous passion, fine precision, and great musicality.” David Moulton, cello, Michael Locati, violin, and Kristin Ditlow, piano bring a wealth of chamber music experience to the Lukens Piano Trio.

The trio appeared as guest artists on the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society, and as guest clinicians at Georgia Regents University and various high schools in the Augusta, GA area.
The group takes their name from the residence of the violinist, Michael Locati. The Locati family and family business, Locati Auctions, resides at “Lukens Manor” in Maple Glen, PA. The nascent period of the group’s rehearsals occurred there. The name presented an attractive and amiable choice.

Concert appearances for the Lukens Piano Trio have ranged from traditional repertoire to including guests in repertoire of Messaien (“Quartet for the End of Time”), Shostakovich (“Blok Romances”) and Bach (arias and selection from cantatas). They have been regular artists on concert series in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.
