Welcome to The Rev. Paul DeWitt Reid
It is with great pleasure and
gratitude to our God of Abundance and
The Rt. Rev. Charles E. Bennison Jr., Bishop of Pennsylvania
that we, the Vestry of St. Paul's, announce
The Rev. Paul DeWitt Reid
has accepted our call to become the Priest-in-Charge of
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Elkins Park
for the next two years. Assuming a continued strengthening of our congregation we anticipate that he will then be able to remain among us as our Rector. Paul will begin his ministry among us August 15 and celebrate our first Eucharist together Sunday, August 21.
The Rev. Paul DeWitt Reid was born just outside of Peoria, Illinois and grew up in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. He was educated at Penn State University and at Edinburgh University, Scotland, and received his Master in Divinity degree with honors from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. A cradle Episcopalian ordained later in life, Paul has also served in most lay church leadership positions, and has been a
choir singer since he was a young boy. Most recently, he has assisted at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge and at St. Peters in the Great Valley (in Malvern). He also served as an auxiliary chaplain at Reading Hospital.
Paul is married to Anne, who is from Scotland, and they have two grown sons, Fionn and Liam. The whole family are accomplished choir singers. Paul and Anne owned their own craft business with 13 employees in the far northwest Highlands of Scotland for ten years, and Paul also managed a community development organization in remote rural and difficult urban areas of Scotland. On returning to the U.S. in 1989, Paul began a career in information technology, and over the past twenty years has worked in management for such companies as KPMG Peat Marwick, Microsoft, and Pfizer Animal Health. Anne is an artist in fiber and pastel, was deputy director of the YWCA in Pottstown, and for the past five years, has managed a very busy medical clinic for the uninsured in Phoenixville, located in the old rectory of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
Paul is an accomplished preacher and worship leader and enjoys teaching both adults and children. Anne looks forward to being a very active member of St. Paul's, and their sons Fionn and Liam will visit as often as they can! |
